Bearhawk Aircraft: kit-plane electrics rebuilt around the PDM28

Since 2025, Bearhawk has built its kit aircraft around a Hardwire PDM28 and two CAN keypads, giving pilots smarter control and protection of lights, pumps and avionics.

APPLICATION

Kit aircraft electrical systems

PRODUCTS USED

PDM28, 2 × CAN keypad

1

Solid-state PDM28 in place of fuses, relays and heavy wiring

2

Blink Marine CAN keypads for the pilot

Auto-retry

Tripped outputs retry, so brief faults don’t kill a system

The challenge

Bearhawk supplies rugged, versatile aircraft kits that pilots build themselves. A traditional kit-plane electrical system means a web of fuses, relays and heavy-gauge wire, and features like flashing landing lights need extra parts and complex wiring.

In aviation, safety comes first, so any new system also had to protect every circuit and keep critical systems running.

The solution

From 2025, Bearhawk builds include a Hardwire PDM28 controlled from two Blink Marine CAN keypads on the panel.

  • Overcurrent and fault protection across the whole electrical system, with automatic retry
  • Features such as flashing landing lights set up in software instead of extra hardware
  • Redundancy designed in for safety-critical systems

The results

Builders get a simpler, centralised system that is quicker to install and easier to troubleshoot and maintain. Pilots get intuitive control of everything from lighting to avionics, with better protection and peace of mind in the air.
